StayCations results

20,336 referrals for Staycations generated by Barbados.org

In support of the Staycations program, Barbados.org ran a special page with complimentary links to participating properties, attractions and restaurants (this included businesses that do not currently advertise with Axses).

For the period April 27 2009 to November 30 2009, http://barbados.org/staycations.htm generated over 20,336 referrals (Click-throughs)!


From fax machine to true on-line shopping experience

At AXSES we understand the needs and challenges of our clients, many of whom have been with us from the start. Some will remember back in 1996 when email was a new concept for them.

AXSES received emails on behalf of the hotels, faxed the emails to the reservations staff or manager and awaited the hand-written response of availability and rates. These were then patiently typed by the AXSES team as an email response to the visitor. A large number of emails handled this way resulted in finalized bookings.

Seeing these results, local hotels began to embrace the technology and moved forward with guidance from AXSES.

During the past 12 years, we have continued to keep Barbados at the forefront as a tourism destination on the Internet. We have kept our clients alert to on-line marketing trends, and provided channels for them to participate in the latest of technology including AXSES Facebook and Google Maps shopping and booking applications.

Because of arcRes, Barbados hotels can be booked directly on the Google Satellite map. The arcRes application developed by Kathy-Lynn at AXSES allows the guest to see rooms, rates, photos, get a quote and book. AXSES "bookable-maps" is still ahead in the market in its integration of the shopping experience, and AXSES has been cited by Google a TOP Contributor to its mapping technology.

Other unique applications using arcRes include bookable-ads such as those on barbados.org and the Book-able Facebook application also built on arcRes.

Real-time bookings

Nine years ago, we introduced arcRes as a booking engine with Real-time booking capability. Most properties were not ready to manage allocation at that time. We filled their need for on-line bookings with the request system that the majority still chooses to use. For those who are able to manage an allocation system for real-time bookings, arcRes makes this available to them.

However, it must be realized that all booking engines that offer real-time credit card bookings require that rooms are allocated/set-aside for those real-time bookings.

Also recognize that all booking-engines offering real-time credit card bookings require that the allocation system is maintained, and actual rooms have been set aside for possible bookings.

The arcRes allocation system is "Clear and Understandable" (quote from reservations staff of one of the properties using arcRes successfully).

arcRes as a booking-engine is very flexible. Each property can choose whether they wish to have realtime credit card bookings or by request. It is very important that we offer this choice, as some properties are not willing to maintain an allocation system.


Global marketing

Through arcRes, hotels can offer Specials which are then distributed through RSS feeds making your specials available on mobile phones, Facebook, Google Calendar and over 1,000 web sites.

arcRes is the engine driving AXSES on-line marketing channels including over a dozen on Barbados.org alone. Barbados-org itself offers over 500 types of ad places giving your business global exposure.

arcRes is used for cross-selling hotels, car rentals, activities, attractions. These can all work together with the Booking-partners program for their on-line sales.

arcRes offers a marketing database with the guest's contact info, country of origin etc. and a system for sending out batches of emails to those who have shown an interest in booking.

arcRes can be used together with on-line travel agencies such as Expedia to accommodate special travel agent offers such as BOB.

arcRes administration tool allows hotels and tourism operators (cars and activities) to manage special rates, packages, family plans, loyalty programs and Best Rate guarantees.

arcRes is Integrated with Global Distribution Systems (GDS), allowing content to be easily loaded onto the GDS and Internet Distribution Systems and Online Travel Agents (IDS/OTA). AXSES strategy is to build a broad range of integrated services and marketing via a universal Integration Platform now under development.
